Regular payment

All about regular payments - also known as a standing order

You can make sure you never miss a bill payment date if you set up a regular payment from your account. Here's all you need to know about how to set one up and how to start using it.

What is a regular payment?

What is a regular payment?

A regular payment is a way of making a payment or transfer to someone else on a regular basis. You can set up the instruction on your account, which then lets you make payments to other UK banks or building societies as and when you need to. It’s also known as a standing order.

What is it used for? Typically it's used to make transfers to savings accounts, overpay a mortgage, pay bills, donate to a charity or just send money to a friend or relative. You can also use a regular payment to pay companies.

Do you have sufficient funds to make a payment?

Make sure you have sufficient cleared funds in your account to make a payment

When you ask us to make Direct Debits, standing orders and bill payments on a future date, we attempt to make these payments in the morning.

Retry of failed payments

If there are insufficient funds in your account to make the payment we will try to make the payment again on the same day at 2:30pm. This is to provide you with additional time to get cleared funds into your account. You can do this by paying cash into your account at a Rafidain Bank branch, making a Faster Payment or a quick transfer online from another Rafidain Bank account. To find out when a cheque you are paying into your account will clear, please use our cheque processing calculator.

If funds are not available when we attempt the retry, customers will still only receive 1 unpaid transaction fee.
