The benefits of free text alerts

High balance alert

You can set a high balance value and receive a text alert when your balance reaches this amount, for example when your salary is paid in.

Low balance alert

Receive a text to let you know your balance is close to zero or near your overdraft limit (if applicable).

Regular mini statement

Receive a regular text showing your balance and last 5 transactions.

If you bank online with us, you can log in and register in the 'Manage my details & settings' section. If you don't bank online, please either:


  • contact us on +44 783 974 9373, or 
  • visit us in branch.

Receiving text alerts

Receiving text alerts

Text alerts are normally delivered between 8am and 10am. Once registered, you will also receive a welcome message. Welcome messages will normally be delivered the same day, within the sociable hours of 8am and 8pm.

You can receive texts alerts abroad, but please check with your service provider for any charges you may incur.

Important security things to remember

  • Never reveal your passnumber 
  • Destroy our confirmation letter once you have memorised your passnumber 
  • Ensure that your Telephone Banking card is kept safe and secure
  • If you forget your passnumber or it becomes known to someone else, please re-register for text alerts
  • If you phone has been lost or stolen or you change your mobile number, tell us immediately on +44 783 974 9373.

Terms and conditions

The following terms and conditions apply to Text Alert

1. To subscribe to Text Alerts you must hold a Rafidain Bank current account. If you have more than one Rafidain Bank current account then you must separately subscribe to receive these notifications for each such current account.

2. To subscribe to Text Alerts you must provide a valid mobile telephone number. For security purposes we are only able to send Text Alerts to the mobile telephone number registered against your account(s), and we are only able to register one mobile telephone number for each account holder. We shall have no liability if you are unable to receive Text Alerts because you have not provided us with a valid mobile telephone number.

3. Text Alerts will be sent by SMS only. Rafidain Bank will not charge you for Text Alerts, however you will be responsible for all charges made by the network provider for your mobile and you should be aware of all network charges which may include higher charges should you receive a Text Alert whilst you are abroad. Rafidain Bank has no control over any charges made by the network provider for your mobile telephone.

4. Depending on the service(s) you have subscribed for the following alerts will be sent:-
a) a mini-statement (the balance and the last five transactions on your account) at the intervals you specified; and/or
b) a low balance alert where your account has reached or dropped below the low balance limit you set; and/or
c) a high balance alert where your account has reached or has exceeded the high balance limit you set; and
d) any other important information which we believe you should know.

5. Each Text Alert will contain information which is accurate only on the date and time set out in the alert. However, the balance shown in any Text Alert may not include all transactions on your account.

6. You will receive low balance alerts for no more than two consecutive days, and a high balance alert once each time your balance increases to reach or exceed the high balance limit value you set.

7. We shall have no liability if you are unable to receive Text Alerts because of the failure of any machine, data processing system or transmission link or anything else beyond our or our agent’s reasonable control. We will also have no liability where others are able to read your Text Alerts.

Receiving Text Alerts

8. If you are a joint Rafidain Bank current account holder, only the account holder who has subscribed to receive Text Alerts for that account will receive Text Alerts.

9. If both joint Rafidain Bank current account holders subscribe to receive Text Alerts, both account holders will receive Text Alerts to the mobile telephone number registered by each account holder.

10. If an account holder is removed from a joint Rafidain Bank current account the removed individual will no longer receive Text Alerts

11. You can check and amend your mobile number or your Text Alerts contact preferences using the Internet Bank, by visiting your local branch or by calling us on +44 783 974 9373.

12. You must tell us straight away if your mobile is lost or stolen or if you change your mobile number. Please be aware that it may take up to 24 hours for updates to take effect and therefore you may still receive Text Alerts during this period.

13. We may make changes to these terms and conditions. If the change is to your disadvantage we will tell you either by text message, e-mail, secure message, letter or by notice within the Internet Bank at least 30 days before we make the change. We may make any other change immediately and tell you about it either by text message, e-mail, putting a notice in our branches, secure message, notice within the Internet Bank or an advertisement in the press.

Making Changes to your Text Alerts

14. You can unsubscribe from Text Alerts using the Internet Bank, by visiting your local branch or calling us on +44 783 974 9373 and asking us to stop sending one or more Text Alert services. Please note that you must separately unsubscribe for each applicable Rafidain Bank current account for which you no longer wish to receive Text Alerts.

15. If you close your Rafidain Bank current account you will no longer receive Text Alerts regarding that account. If you subsequently open another Rafidain Bank current account you can re-subscribe for Text Alerts for that account.

16. We reserve the right to withdraw Text Alerts at any time and shall have no liability to you if we do withdraw this service or if for any reason you do not receive a Text Alert. Where possible we will give you prior notice of such withdrawal.
